A New Day for Learning: A Report from the Time, Learning, and Afterschool Task Force
George Lucas Educational Foundation
This report calls for federal, state, and local policies that support the exploration and redesign of the nation's learning system, including the structure of the traditional school day and academic year. The report finds that access to high-quality educational opportunities is crucial to helping children succeed in an increasingly complex, global society and argues that the United States needs a learning system that redefines student success, recognizes how students learn throughout the day and year, integrates various approaches to acquiring and reinforcing knowledge, and provides new leadership and professional development opportunities. This report is intended as the first step towards catalyzing conversations and initiating the development of actions among key decision makers across the country.
