Newly Qualified Teachers in Post-Primary Schools in Northern Ireland: The Support Provided for Their Needs and Their Own Vision for Induction.
Moran, Anne; Dallat, John; Abbott, Lesley
European Journal of Teacher Education, v22 n2&3 p173-89 1999
Examined newly certified Irish secondary teachers' feelings about the adequacy of their preservice teacher preparation, experiences with beginning teacher supports, and visions for induction. Results indicated they were generally satisfied with preservice training, enjoyed the rewards of seeing students learn, but were concerned about discipline and time pressures. Department heads and teacher tutors were seen as critical figures. (SM)
