Developing language habits in students leads to discussion of their self esteem as well as to the values of the dominant society. (JH)

Involving students in an active study of dialect differences will enhance their own self awareness and their knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity. (JH)

English classes should develop the use of good English in student compositions, which should in turn influence student morality. (JH)

The junior high English teacher should encourage creative writing to make the students more aware of themselves and the world around them. (JH)
