Correlation of the Scores on Barron's Ego Strength Scale with the Scores on the Bender-Gestalt Test.
Peer reviewedMartin, John D.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
The degree of relationship between scores on the Barron Ego Strength Scale and the scores on the Bender-Gestalt Test was investigated on a sample of college students. Correlations were moderate to low. Racial differences were observed on the Bender-Gestalt Test. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Correlation, Higher Education, Personality Measures, Racial Differences
Peer reviewedMartin, John D.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
The validity of the Slosson Intelligence Test (SIT) relative to the California Short Form Test of Mental Maturity and the Shipley-Institute of Living Scale was investigated on a sample of college students. Results supported the validity of the SIT. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Correlation, Higher Education, Intelligence Tests, Technical Reports
Peer reviewedWard, G. Robert; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
For each of four subsamples of Olympic-quality athletes--14 discus, 8 hammer, 11 javelin, and 12 shotput measures of 19 personality constructs yielded only two statistically significant validity coefficients (out of 76 possible significant indices) in the prediction of average length of throw. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Athletes, Individual Characteristics, Performance Factors, Personality Measures
Peer reviewedCeurvorst, Robert W. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
The Johnson-Neyman technique is briefly reviewed, and a program for carrying out an analysis using the procedure is described. The program accommodates one independent and one dependent variable, up to 20 groups of observations, and an unlimited number of cases. (Author)
Descriptors: Analysis of Covariance, Computer Programs, Correlation, Program Descriptions
Peer reviewedGorsuch, Richard L.; Dreger, Ralph Mason – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
Answers the intermediate need for a computer procedure that can provide a reasonably sophisticated factor analysis for as many as 500 variables--a program to cover the vast majority of factor analytic requirements with nearly the same degree of ease as that afforded by use of the "little jiffy" programs. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Computer Programs, Factor Analysis, Oblique Rotation, Orthogonal Rotation
Peer reviewedMorris, John D. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
Several advantages to the use of different kinds of factor scores as independent variables in a multiple regression equation are reported. A computer program is presented which will calculate a regression equation using a variety of factor scores. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Computer Programs, Factor Analysis, Multiple Regression Analysis, Program Descriptions
Peer reviewedThompson, Bruce; Frankiewicz, Ronald G. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
An overview of several statistics useful in interpreting variates constructed by using canonical correlation analysis is presented. A computer program which calculates coefficients not typically provided by computer packages is discussed. An illustrative example of the output is provided. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Computer Programs, Correlation, Multivariate Analysis, Program Descriptions
Peer reviewedHaase, Richard F. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
The development and initial testing of two computer programs designed to assist in the process of vocational choice are described. The programs are interactive and are complementary to one another. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Career Choice, Career Guidance, Computer Programs, Occupational Aspiration
Peer reviewedKarpman, Mitch – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
This program calculates the chi-square statistic for testing the assumptions of equality and symmetry of covariance matrices in a repeated measures design. (Author)
Descriptors: Analysis of Covariance, Computer Programs, Nonparametric Statistics, Program Descriptions
Peer reviewedDarom, Efraim; Rimon, Jonathan – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
A computer analysis for a split plot design with unequal number of subjects in treatment groups is described. The technique presented is based on the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). An example is worked out, and full documentation is presented. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Analysis of Variance, Computer Programs, Program Descriptions, Research Design
Peer reviewedWatkins, Marley W.; McDermott, Paul A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
A computer program entitled Program CONGRU is presented which analyzes the overall conjoint agreement among many observers for their classifications on categorical scales. A special feature assesses the significance of observers' congruence in assignments to each nominal category considered. (Author)

Peer reviewedBaggaley, Andrew R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
A computer program is described that tests for the slope, quadratic, and cubic coefficients of a growth function generated from repeated observations. (Author)

Peer reviewedCarroll, Robert M.; Faden, Vivian B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
Some sampling characteristics of three estimators of the intraclass correlation were investigated under a variety of conditions within the context of a one-way analysis of variance. The results promote caution in the use of all three estimators. The three estimators differed very little in their bias or in their standard errors. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Analysis of Variance, Correlation, Research Design, Sampling
Peer reviewedLevy, Kenneth J.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
It is suggested that Levy's procedure for testing predicted trends in independent correlations should not produce grossly incorrect inferences when one is dealing with the sorts of correlations which are ordinarily encountered in empirical research. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Correlation, Hypothesis Testing, Research Design, Trend Analysis
Peer reviewedMalgady, Robert G.; Huck, Schuyler W. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
The t ratio used in testing the difference between two independent regression coefficients is generalized to the multivariate case of testing the difference between two vectors of regression coefficients. This is particularly useful in determining which of two variables best predicts a number of criterion variables. (Author/JKS)
