Data on the Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale from a sample of educable mentally retarded elementary school students were factor analyzed. Results indicated some support for the factor validity of the instrument. (JKS)

The validity of the Study Practices Inventory (SPI) for a group of entering pharmacy students was assessed. The four subscores of the SPI showed moderate correlation with entering grade point average and with measures of reading ability. (Author/JKS)

Eight ambiguous items in the 16-item Inconditionality of Regard Scale of the Barrett-Lennard Relationship Inventory were rewritten to see if the relationship of that scale to others in the inventory would change. Jansen, David G.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
Scores from the Comrey Personality Scales were related to scores from the Personal Orientation Dimension for a sample of alcoholic inpatients. Results supported the findings of an earlier study and helped to clarify the construct validity of the instruments. (Author/JKS)

The Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire, Gordon Personal Profile, and Gordon Personal Inventory were administered to 151 male and female high school students. A problem of considerable importance in certain educational settings is determining how many items to include on a mastery test. Applying ranking and selection procedures, a solution is given which includes as a special case all existing single-stage, non-Bayesian solutions based on a strong true-score model. (Author/JKS)

It is shown how partial covariance, part and partial correlation, and regression weights can be estimated and tested for significance by means of a factor analytic model. Comparable partial covariance, correlations, and regression weights have identical significance tests. (Author)

A problem in analysis of variance is that after rejection of the overall hypothesis, no contrasts of interest are found to be significant. A procedure for determining the contrast of significance is outlined, and the relationship between the "most significant" contrast and the overall test is shown. (Author/JKS)

The effect of stratified sampling of items based on item difficulty and/or interitem correlations on the estimation of test score distribution parameters using multiple matrix sampling was studied.
