Behuniak, Peter, Jr.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
This study examined how local content specialists performed when applying the Angoff and Nedelsky standard setting procedures to objective-referenced instruments in reading and mathematics. Results revealed several differences between the standard setting procedures in terms of both level and consistency of the cut scores generated. (Author/BW)

The importance of computational skill for answering items in the quantitative thinking subtest of the Iowa Tests of Educational Development was investigated. Results show that computational skill is not a major factor contributing to the examinee's score on the subtest. (Author/GK)

The factorial validity of the Teacher Occupational Stress Factor Questionnaire was determined. Results provided partial support for the construct validity of the instrument. Item rearrangement resulted in changing the composition of three of the five factors; this was thought to provide data for investigating teacher stress. (Author/GK)

The correlation between student rating of instructor and affective outcomes of instruction was studied in two samples. Correlations were positive and of the same magnitude as those between student ratings of instructor and cognitive achievement outcomes. (Author/GK)

A factor analysis of the Children's Nowicki-Strickland Locus of Control Scale was conducted with a biracial sample of children over a wide age range. Three factors (personal control and helplessness, achievement and friendship, and luck) had sufficient item loadings to be interpretable. (Author/GK)

The Nonsexist Personal Attribute Inventory for Children (NPAIC) was administered along with the Piers-Harris scale to children in fifth through eighth grade. A correlation of .49 was found between the two scales. The NPAIC was found to be a reliable, valid self-concept scale for females and males. (Author/GK)

The predictive validity of the Minnesota Reading Assessment (MRA) when used to project potential performance of postsecondary vocational-technical education students was examined. Findings confirmed the MRA to be a valid predictor, although the error in prediction varied between the criterion variables. (Author/GK)

This study set out to determine the relationship of each of 12 selected cognitive factors to physics achievement at the high school level. Multiple regression analysis indicated that the most promising predictors for boys were divergent production measures; convergent production for the girls. (Author/GK)

The validity of scores from the Descriptive Tests of Mathematics Skills (DTMS) and the College Board Scholastic Aptitude Test--Mathematics (SAT-M) are compared. Results show the DTMS as a valid predictor of remedial level college course grades; the higher level OTMS was as accurate a predictor as the SAT-M for grades in advanced courses.…

The validity of the Short Form Test of Academic Aptitude and a set of biographical variables as predictors of future academic achievement was investigated.
