Walters, Lynda Henley; Klein, Alice E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
Two scales were submitted together for factor analyses in order to determine the extent to which the dimensions of locus of control and anomie were related from the perspective of adolescents. It was concluded that the instruments measure different constructs and are factorially valid when considered together. (Author/AL)

Plake, Barbara S.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
The concurrent and predictive validity of the Achievement Anxiety Test (AAT) were investigated. The evidence gives cause to be concerned about the quality of a difference score because of the nonindependence of the two scores. Further, the underlying structure of the instrument appears to be more complex than originally hypothesized. (Author/GK)

Obrzut, John E.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
Studying the validity of the Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning (DIAL), 53 kindergartners took the DIAL before school entrance and then had their Slosson Intelligence Test scores and Metropolitan Readiness Tests monitored for the school year. Preschool screening programs and their relation to the DIAL are discussed. (CE)

Brazil, Nettye; Pollock, John H. Sr. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
Certain groupings of behaviors (factors) from a list of behaviors on the Referral Preference Rating Scale (RPRS) were identified as problem behaviors by high school teachers. Results show that the RPRS not only identified the teachers' main concerns but clustered them in terms of the most disruptive behaviors. (Author/GK)

Levitov, Justin E.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
This study was concerned with the measurement characteristics of an instrument which can be used to measure attitudes toward drug users and drug usage. Results suggest that the Drug Perception Scale is useful in measuring impacts representing important aspects of most drug education programs. (Author/GK)

Briscoe, Cecil D.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
This investigation was concerned with determining the degree of relationship between scores on ability measures included in the standardized General Aptitude Test Battery (GATB) and self-estimates by high school students of their level of ability in the same aptitude areas as those in the GATB. Saigh, Philip A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
Moderate correlations were observed between the grade point average and nonverbal battery IQ scores of the Lorge Thorndike Intelligence Test administered to 27 elementary school students representing 12 countries during their first semester at a private American school overseas. Reasons are cited for additional research needs in the United States…

Wilson, Diane Grimard; Wagner, Edwin E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
It is shown that the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (WGCTA) significantly predicted standing in a specialized course at the college level, lending credence to its criterion-related validity. Budescu, David V. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
An empirical study of the power of the F test in normal populations with variances proportional to the cell means is reported. The results indicate that the power of the test can be approximated by the noncentral F distribution with a modified parameter of noncentrality. (Author/CM)

Cuenot, Randall G.; Darbes, Alex – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
Thirty-one clinical psychologists scored Comprehension, Similarities, and Vocabulary subtest items common to the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Revised (WISC-R). Gerbing, David W.; Hunter, John E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
In a LISREL-IV analysis, a method of specifying a priori the variances of the latent variables for interpretability is demonstrated. The potential confusion of the metric of the latent variables is discussed, since many of the parameter estimates are a function of the metric. (Author/CM)

Iso-Ahola, Seppo E.; Buttimer, Kevin J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
While the work ethic and leisure ethic were moderately negatively correlated in a study of two scales of each ethic and a leisure satisfaction index, the correlations between the ethics were influenced by gender differences and the types of items included in the instruments. Several correlation interactions are discussed. (Author/CM)

Evidence of biases in the correct answers in multiple-choice test item files were found to include "all of the above" bias in which that answer was correct more than 25 percent of the time, and a bias that the longest answer was correct too frequently. Seven bias types were studied. (Author/CM)
