Omizo, Michael M.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
The relationship was examined between six scales of the Locus of Control for Three Achievement Domains (LOCITAD), the Nowicki-Strickland Locus of Control Scale, and the Rotter Internal-External Scale. Subjects were 140 adolescent boys and girls. Significant correlations provided some support for LOCITAD's validity. (Author/GDC)

Goodman, Sherri Hope; Waters, L. K. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
Coefficient alpha reliability estimates and interscale correlations were obtained for five locus of control scales administered to 267 undergraduates: the Rotter Internal-External Scale; the 18-item version of the Reid and Ware scale; the Levenson scale; the Nowicki-Strickland adult internal/external scale; and the Duttweiler Internal Control…

Highhouse, Scott; Doverspike, Dennis – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
This study investigated the relationship between cognitive style, occupational preference, and learning modes. Kolb's Revised Learning Style Inventory (1985), the Group Embedded Figures Test, and the Vocational Choice Inventory were administered to 111 undergraduate students. (Author/GDC)

Parker, Randall M.; Green, Donald – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
Scores of 135 community college students on the Occupational Aptitude Survey and Interest Schedule (OASIS) were compared with different academic majors. A series of 18 one-way analyses of variance provided evidence for the construct validity of the OASIS Interest Schedule. (Author/GDC)

Roberts, Dennis M.; Reese, Clyde M. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
To investigate the claim that the Statistics Attitude Survey (SAS) contains a number of achievement-related items rather than attitude-related items, the SAS and the Attitudes Toward Statistics (ATS) were administered to 280 introductory statistics students. Results showed similarities between the tests. (Author/GDC)

Thompson, Bruce; Melancon, Janet G. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
Generalizability theory was used in this study of the Group Embedded Figures Test, which was administered to undergraduates in a mathematics course. Results indicated that the test has desirable psychometric characteristics, including test and item difficulty and item discrimination coefficients. (Author/GDC)

Munson, J. Michael; McQuarrie, Edward F. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
A shortened version of Zaichkowsky's 20-item Personal Involvement Inventory was created, removing four items which might be difficult to understand for noncollege-educated populations. The 16-item modified version had acceptable internal consistency; test-retest reliability; and factorial and predictive validity. (Author/GDC)

Poggio, John P.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
College faculty served as judges to rate the instructional validity of items on the National Teacher Examinations Core Battery. The ratings were examined in relation to actual test performance, as well as panelists' ratings of item difficulty and relevance. (Author/GDC)

Balkin, Joseph – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
Open admission college undergraduates who were successful in college were administered the Adjective Check List, measuring Achievement, Aggression, and Deference. Achievement and Aggression accounted for 21 percent of the variance in grade point average (GPA). High School GPA was also found to account for 10 percent of the variance. (GDC)

Kennedy, John K., Jr.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test Fiedler's contingency model of leader effectiveness, which characterizes leaders as either task-oriented or motivated by successful interpersonal relations. Results using undergraduate students had negative implications for the validity of the model and the Least Preferred Coworker Scale. (GDC)

Cooke, Robert A.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
Lafferty's Life Styles Inventory was completed by 556 managers (Level I, Self-Description) and by 2,922 peers, subordinates, and supervisors (Level II, Description by Others). Factor analysis revealed the same three factors in both ratings. Coworkers generally agreed with each others' ratings, but correlations between self and coworker ratings…

Kerber, Kenneth W.; Campbell, James P. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
A job satisfaction questionnaire was completed by 4,130 exempt and non-exempt employees of a computer company. Results supported test reliability and validity and suggested exempt employees were more satisfied. Satisfaction with the nature of work and satisfaction with pay and working conditions were the most important facets. (GDC)

James, Lawrence R.; Tetrick, Lois E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
An analytic procedure is presented for testing the homogeneity of unstandardized regression weight vectors when the vectors are correlated. The basic design involves repeated measurements on a dependent variable and a set of independent variables. The method is illustrated with a study of perceived leader behavior. (Author/BW)

Bray, James H.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
The purpose of this study was to determise the relative loss in statistical power of traditional methods of analysis when response-shift bias is present. Five methods of analysis (posttest scores only; postminus pretests; postminus retrospective pretest; postcovaried by pretest; postcovaried by retrospective pretest) were compared. (Author/BW)

Irwin, R. J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
The forced-choice psychophysical procedures of the Seashore Measures are well designed to assess sensory capacities. The norms of the current version of the test, however, show percentile ranks that purport to distinguish between scores that can only represent chance performance (Author/BW)
