The Relationship between Correlational and Internal Consistency Notions of Test Reliability.
Krus, David J.; Helmstadter, Gerald C.
Educational and Psychological Measurement, v47 n4 p911-15 Win 1987
The Spearman-Brown (S-B) formula for correction of the split-half coefficient of reliability is discussed as a conceptual precursor of modern formulations of internal-consistency reliability. Derived from the principal components of the product moment coefficient, an alternative S-B formulation facilitates an understanding of internal consistency-reliability. (TJH)
