Marshall, Jon C.; Merritt, Sharon L. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
This study was designed to determine the reliability and construct validity of an alternate form of the Learning Style Inventory using a semantic differential format. Results of the study suggested that the alternate form was reliable and construct valid. (Author/LMO)

Chiu, Lian-Hwang – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
The purpose of this study was to determine the test-retest reliability and concurrent validity of the short form (Form B) of the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory. Criterion measures for validity included: (1) sociometric measures; (2) teacher's popularity ranking; and, (3) self-esteem rating. (Author/LMO)

Powers, Stephen; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Results of an administration of the Language Proficiency Measure indicated that the interrater reliability was adequate, internal-consistency reliability estimates were high, concurrent validity coefficients were adequate, and the classification validity was acceptable. (Author/LMO)

Payne, David A.; Evans, K. Ann – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Self-report subscale scores from the Herrmann Brain Dominance Survey and Torrance and Reynolds' Your Style of Learning and Thinking were correlated with the College Board Scholastic Aptitude Test Scores and with the grade point averages of 40 junior female occupational therapy students. (Author/LMO)

Aiken, Lewis R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Procedures are described for determining the statistical significance of a set of ratings made on bidirectional (B) scales. B and its statistical significance can be determined on samples of items or raters. The statistical significance of a mean of B values can be assessed by applying a normal approximation test. Thompson, Bruce; Borrello, Gloria M. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Multiple regression analysis is frequently being employed in experimental and non-experimental research. However, when data include predictor variables that are correlated, some regression results can become difficult to interpret. This paper presents a study to provide a demonstration that structure coefficients may be useful in these cases.…

Shine, II, Lester C.; Stoup, Charles M. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
A method requiring minimal computational effort is presented for transforming ordered residuals for purposes of testing the correctness of a regression model. The method maintains the same logical ordering in the transformed residuals as that of the original residuals and is suitable for either correlated or uncorrelated data. (Author/BS)

Lorr, Maurice; Wunderlich, Richard A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
The construct validity of the Impulsive scale of the Interpersonal Style Inventory (ISI), and its relation to Eysenck's extraversion were investigated. High school males completed self report personality measures. They were rated by counselors on an impulsive scale. Counselor ratings correlated at a significant level with self-report scores.…

Forsythe, George B.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
The Resident Evaluation Form (REF) was developed to assess resident physicians' clinical performance. This research sought to empirically evaluate the intuitively derived REF scales representing areas of clinical performance: interpersonal ability, cognitive ability, clinical skills, and professional attributes. Analysis yielded cognitive…

Koslowsky, Meni – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
The technique of generalizing sample results in a classification study to large subpopulations of unequal sizes was examined. The usual output from the discriminant analysis routine in the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences was extended to handle the present statistical problems. Advantages of the technique were discussed. (Author/DWH)

Hinkle, Dennis E.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
The authors previously discussed the importance of effect size and Type II errors as factors in determining sample size. Tables were developed and presented for one-factor designs with k levels. As these tables could not be used for the one sample case, comparable tables were developed and are presented. (Author/DWH)

Hill, Gloria; Swanson, H. Lee – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Results of factor and correlational analyses of the Ethical Behavior Rating Scale (EBRS) are reported. The test-retest method and internal consistency estimates yielded reliability coefficients. Construct validity was determined by correlating the EBRS with items from the Ethical Reasoning Inventory. The EBRS reflects the behavioral aspects of…

Blixt, Sonya L.; Dinero, Thomas E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Sato's Caution Index is a method of analyzing item response patterns independently of total test score to provide diagnostic information about students. This research supports the validity of the diagnostic interpretations of the Index when compared to graduate students' self evaluation. (Author/BS)

Lienert, Gustav A.; Oeveste, Hans Zur – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Configural frequency analysis (CFA) is suggested as a technique for longitudinal research in developmental psychology. Stability and change in answers to multiple choice and yes-no item patterns obtained with repeated measurements are identified by CFA and illustrated by developmental analysis of an item from Gorham's Proverb Test.
