Lieblich, Amia; Shinar, Maya – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
First grade children in Israel were tested on the Wechsler Preschool Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI); most were retested using measures of Reading and Arithmetic. Intelligence and achievement test scores were correlated to provide estimates of the predictive validity of the WPPSI. The Israeli WPPSI was highly valid for predicting school…

McNary, Susan; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
Determines for a group of fifth-and sixth-grade middle class children the extent of the relationship if any between each of three measures of cognitive style (reflection-impulsivity, field dependence-independence, and internal-external locus of control) and each of two separate measures and a combined measure of fantasy predisposition. (RC)

Baum, Dale D. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
In view of the high degree of correlation between the two instruments, findings suggest that the utility of the Peabody Individual Achievement Test (PIAT) as a wide-range achievement test is at least as promising as the Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT) has been. (Author/RC)

Lewis, John; Adank, Richard – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
Determines the intercorrelations among measures of intelligence, achievement, self-esteem, and anxiety among elementary pupils who were enrolled in two different styles of instruction: a traditional self-contained structure and an open school using the Westinghouse PLAN system of computer-backed individualized instruction. (Author/RC)

Lewis, John; Adank, Richard – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
A study of the relationship between attitudes toward school and learning among pupils in grades one through six in two different models of instruction revealed four significant correlations among twelve calculated. The implication was that attitudes toward school were not systematically related to learning among elementary pupils. (Author)

Goolsby, Thomas M.; Helwig, Loren D. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
Explores the patterns of interrelationships among the part scores and total scores of the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking and the Welsh Figural Preference Test for a sample of fifth grade pupils. (Author/RC)

Pedersen, L. C. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
For a sample of 325 students enrolled in freshman chemistry, it was found that performance on the Verbal and Mathematics Sections of the Scholastic Aptitude Test of the College Entrance Examination Board exhibited low preditive validity in relation to a criterion of grades in freshmen chemistry. Katzenmeyer, William G.; Stenner, A. Jackson – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
The problem of demonstrating replicability of factor structure across random variables is addressed. Procedures are outlined which combine the use of random subsample replication strategies with the correlations between factor score estimates across replicate pairs to generate a coefficient of replicability and confidence intervals associated with…

Kaiser, Henry F.; Michael, William B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
An alternative derivation of Tryon's basic formula for the coefficient of domain validity or the coefficient of generalizability developed by Cronbach, Rajaratnam, and Glaser is provided. This derivation, which is also the generalized Kuder-Richardson coefficient, requires a relatively minimal number of assumptions compared with that in previously…

Olejnik, Stephen; Porter, Andrew C. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
The four scoring strategies compared were: lamda coefficients, chi-square weights, and two applications of multiple discriminant analysis. No significant differences were found when applied to the Kuder Occupational Interest Survey. (RC)

Meyer, Edward P. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
Bounds are obtained for a coefficient proposed by Kaiser as a measure of average correlation and the coefficient is given an interpretation in the context of reliability theory. It is suggested that the root-mean-square intercorrelation may be a more appropriate measure of degree of relationships among a group of variables. (Author)
