Characteristics of the Treatment Environment: A Factor Analytic Study

Intercorrelations of the items of the Characteristics of the Treatment Environment instrument (CTE) were factored for three samples of attendants at institutions for the mentally retarded. These results differed from previous studies of the CTE, which was originally developed for mental or psychiatric hospitals. Two factors, autonomy and activity, were finally accepted. (Author/JKS)
