Described is a Fortran computer program for an alternative algorithm for Thurstone's pair comparisons method. This algorithm provides an improved capacity for handling indeterminate proportions of one and zero as well as untruncated estimates of population scale values. (Author/JKS)

A Fortran program is presented that administers, scores, and interprets the Interpersonal Check List. Included in the program are test items, protocols for administration and scoring, printing of individually-tailored interpretation of results, and a pictorial plot describing the characteristic interpersonal behavior in terms of two orthogonal…

A description of a Fortran program for linear and area transformations of test scores with optional generation of symmetric tables of areas under the standard normal curve is presented. Also included is a historic note on the origin of McCall's T Scale. (Author/JKS)

The conceptual differences between coded regression analysis and traditional analysis of variance are discussed. Also, a modification of several SPSS routines is proposed which allows for direct interpretation of ANOVA and ANCOVA results in a form stressing the strength and significance of scrutinized relationships. (Author)

Peer reviewedKrus, David J.; Ney, Robert G. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
An algorithm for item analysis in which item discrimination indices have been defined for the distractors as well as the correct answer is presented. Also, the concept of convergent and discriminant validity is applied to items instead of tests, and is discussed as an aid to item analysis. (Author/JKS)

Peer reviewedKrus, David J.; Ceurvorst, Robert W. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
An algorithm for updating the means of variances of a norm group after each computer-assisted administration of a test is described. The algorithm does not require storage of the whole data set, and provides for unlimited, continuous expansion of the test norms. (Author)

Peer reviewedKrus, David J.; Ceurvorst, Robert W. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
A computer program for estimation of trends in longitudinal research based on the moving average was presented and applied to a sample set of data. The program allows both standard and weighted procedures for supression of incidental variation. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Computer Programs, Longitudinal Studies, Time, Trend Analysis
Peer reviewedKrus, David J.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1976
Description of a computer program performing rotated canonical variate analysis was presented. The program is compatible with the IBM Scientific Subroutines Package. Examples of rotated and unrotated solutions of a sample problem were given, together with their interpretations illustrating the advantages of the rotated solution. (Author)

Order analysis is discussed as a method for description of formal structures in multidimensional space. Its algorithm was derived using a combination of psychometric theory, formal logic theory, information theory, and graph theory concepts. The model provides for adjustment of its sensitivity to random variation. (Author/JKS)

Matrix differencing of data vectors is introduced as a method for computing test variance and is compared to traditional analysis of variance. Applications for computer assisted instruction, provided by supplemental computer software, are also described. (Author/GDC)

The Attitudes toward Bilingual Education scale was shown to be valid with respect to its ability to discriminate between proponents of bilingual education and a general population. (The 23-item scale is included). (Author/GDC)

The Spearman-Brown (S-B) formula for correction of the split-half coefficient of reliability is discussed as a conceptual precursor of modern formulations of internal-consistency reliability. Derived from the principal components of the product moment coefficient, an alternative S-B formulation facilitates an understanding of internal…
