In attempting to ground the principle of reason and reground the metaphysical foundations of higher education, this paper examines the ethics and politics of research within the university, taking cues from the metareflexive reverberations of a question asked by Jacques Derrida, "Is the reason for reason rational?" The paper discusses what warrants deconstruction, relating it to the university. (SM)
