This study examines structural and linguistic variables in relation to ability in recognizing inference patterns. It investigates the relationship between different sets of structural variables and the language used by bilingual subjects. The idea that the ability to recognize valid principles is not a unitary ability which develops with age and levels off at a fixed age is supported. (MN)
