The 2002 SERA Lecture: The Transformative Potential of Consulting Young People about Teaching, Learning and Schooling.
Rudduck, Jean
Scottish Educational Review, v34 n2 p123-37 Nov 2002
When schools consult with students about their educational experiences, students exhibit increased self-confidence, independence in learning, and commitment to school. Teachers become aware of students' creativity, insightfulness, and responsibility. At the school level, student consultation can change assumptions about student capabilities and rights and lead to the creation of more inclusive and responsive communities. (Contains 51 references.)
