Groups of extrovert, ambivert, and introvert children, aged 8, saw pictures with a taped commentary about each. On an immediate recall test, extroverts recalled most if given the commentary before the picture, introverts did best when the picture came first, and ambiverts performed similarly in both conditions. Eighty-four 11-year-olds were grouped in three levels of extraversion on the basis of their Junior Eysenck Personality Inventory score. They were then given an arithmetic test consisting of addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication. A significant interaction between extraversion, sex, and type of operation was found. The pictorial art work of 13-year-old children was assessed by three experienced art teachers on each of six aspects of artistic performance (color, space, pattern, imagery, affect and composition). Four age groups between 7 and 15 listened to a prose passage delivered at a slow or fast speech rate and structured to join or separate related pieces of information.
