Teacher Perceptions across Cultures: The Impact of Students on Teacher Enthusiasm and Discouragement in a Cross-Cultural Context.
Stenlund, K. Vern
Alberta Journal of Educational Research, v41 n2 p145-61 Jun 1995
Interviews with secondary school teachers from the United States, England, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Canada, and Poland indicate that student responsiveness and enthusiasm contributed the most to teacher enthusiasm, while poorly motivated students contributed to a high level of discouragement. Responses were consistent across cultures, except for noted differences in perceptions of Japanese educators. (LP)
