Meaning Construction in School Literacy Tasks: A Study of Bilingual Students.
Langer, Judith A.; And Others
American Educational Research Journal, v27 n3 p427-71 Fall 1990
The meaning-making strategies of 12 Mexican-American fifth grade students (5 males and 7 females), for whom English was a second language, were studied. Subjects' understanding and recall of Spanish and English texts were studied. Focus was on determining how reading strategies in both languages and knowledge sources relate to understanding. (SLD)
