School Literacy, Reasoning, and Civility: An Anthropologist's Perspective.
Erickson, Frederick
Review of Educational Research, v54 n4 p525-46 Win 1984

Schools are part of the larger social environment and perpetuate social class and rank as well as teach the curriculum. Reforms should change the social relations between teachers and students as well as instructional content. (BS)
