Three tasks focusing on perceptions of gender toy preferences and activities and 1 addressing color and sex identification were completed by 15 boys and 15 girls aged 8-9. Children clearly differentiated between toys, activities, and colors appropriate for males and females. They viewed male gender roles and activities as more rigidly proscribed than those of females.
