Interviews with six directors of career advisory services in British universities showed that (1) individual effort rather than service policy was responsible for most provision of career information; (2) career information seemed isolated from other counseling activities; (3) shortcomings appeared in facilities, information technology, and career literature; and (4) information staff were hampered by low status.
