Two studies of 84 fourth graders investigated how goals and self-evaluation affect motivation and achievement outcomes. Students studied fractions under either "learning" or "performance" goals; motivation and achievement outcomes were measured. Learning goals and self-evaluation improve achievement outcomes. (MAK)
