Multidimensional Self-Concepts of Children and Teacher Beliefs about Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
Smith, Kenneth E.; Croom, Laura
Journal of Educational Research, v93 n5 p312-21 May-Jun 2000
Explored relationships between second graders' multidimensional self-concepts (SC) and their teachers' beliefs about developmentally appropriate practices (DAP). Survey data indicated that neither beliefs about traditional practices nor about developmental practices predicted any dimension of SC for girls. Beliefs about traditional practices predicted academic and general school SC for boys, but DAP did not predict any dimension of their SC. (SM)
