Motivation to Learn Science: Differences Related to Gender, Class Type, and Ability.
DeBacker, Teresa K.; Nelson, R. Michael
Journal of Educational Research, v93 n4 p245-54 Mar-Apr 2000
Investigated differences in motivation to learn high school science related to science class type (biological versus physical), gender, and academic ability. Student surveys indicated that there were several differences between higher and lower achieving students and between students in biological versus physical science classes. Sex stereotypes affected motivation, and male and female students had unique motivational needs. (SM)
