Social Class, Ethnicity and Educational Performance.
McCallum, Ian; Demie, Feyisa
Educational Research, v43 n2 p147-59 Sum 2001
Analysis of census data and 884 students' records in Inner London revealed that, regardless of ethnicity, students from more-advantaged social backgrounds performed better. Census measures strongly related to school performance were social class, educational qualifications, unemployment, and index of social deprivation. Census data appear useful in exploring the effect of background on performance. (SK)
