Modular A-Levels--Who Are the Winners and Losers? A Comparison of Lower-Sixth and Upper-Sixth Students' Performance in Linear and Modular A-Levels Physics Examinations.
McClune, Billy
Educational Research, v43 n1 p79-89 Spr 2001
Comparison of lower-sixth-form (n=346) and upper-sixth-form (n=406) students on Advanced-level physics exams in Northern Ireland found higher levels of attainment among the upper-level students. Boys were more likely to take advantage of modular exams. Results support the proposed Advanced Subsidiary level as a less-demanding transition for less-mature students. (SK)
