Influences on Computer-Based Problem Solving: Help Facilities, Intrinsic Orientation, Gender, and Home Computing.
Messer, David J.; And Others
Educational Psychology, v7 n1 p33-46 1987
Describes two studies researching whether computer use led to changes in student's problem-solving skills; "a help facility" assisted with students' acquisition of strategy to solve problems; and an "intrinsic orientation" of pupils influenced their behavior on computer problem-solving task. Results showed intrinsic orientation, gender, and access to a computer in the home make no difference in computer-based problem solving. (RKM)
