Goal Orientations, Cognitive Strategies and Academic Achievement among United Arab Emirates College Students.
Albaili, Mohamed A.
Educational Psychology: An International Journal of Experimental Educational Psychology, v18 n2 p195-203 Jun 1998
Examines the relationships among goal orientations, the use of cognitive strategies, and academic achievement for 234 undergraduate students at the United Arab Emirates University. Finds that performance-goal orientation had a negative effect on grade-point average (GPA), whereas learning-goal orientation had a positive effect mediated by elaboration and organizational strategies.
