The Effects of Season of Birth, Sex, and Cognitive Abilities on the Assessment of Special Educational Needs.
Wilson, Geoffrey
Educational Psychology: An International Journal of Experimental Educational Psychology, v20 n2 p153-66 Jun 2000
Examines the birth dates, sex, and cognitive abilities of children with special educational needs at a comprehensive school in England. Demonstrates the large separate effects of season of birth and sex upon special educational needs classification. Finds that summer- and spring-born children were over represented, while males were also over represented. (CMK)
