Burnett, Paul C.; Proctor, Romina M.
Educational Psychology in Practice, v18 n4 p325-33 Dec 2002
Examined the relationships between academic self-concepts, learner self-concept, and approaches to learning in a sample of 580 Australian elementary school students in grades 6 and 7. Found week negative correlations between learner self-concepts and surface approaches to learning. Found that deep approaches for both boys and girls showed the highest positive correlations with school self-concept and learning self-concept. Found only slight variations between boys and girls.
