When School Desegregation Fuels Educational Reform: Lessons from Suburban St. Louis.
Wells, Amy Stuart; And Others
Educational Policy, v8 n1 p68-88 Mar 1994
Examines a metropolitanwide school desegregation plan's effects on the attitudes and experiences of a few suburban school teachers. Instead of deploring their school's changing demographics, these educators welcomed the new racial and ethnic diversity contributed by African-American students. The plan increased teacher awareness of the school's Eurocentric curriculum, tracking system, and treatment of African-American students. (Contains 15 references.) (MLH)
