Moderate Secularism: Constructing a Language of Possibility for Religion in Public Education.
Curry, Barbara K.; Houser, Neil O.
Educational Policy, v11 n1 p41-57 Mar 1997
Examines the current status of religion in education and considers the implications for policy making and practice. Frames the discussion by reviewing recent Pennsylvania and New York cases that challenged educational policy concerning outcomes-based education and the Kirjas Joel Hasidic sect, respectively. Proposes a "moderate secularism," an alternative approach advocating thoughtful inquiry into religious perspectives. (33 references) (MLH)
