Creating Benchmarks for Science Education.
Ahlgren, Andrew
Educational Leadership, v50 n5 p46-49 Feb 1993
Project 2061 has been constructing goals for science, mathematics, and technology education since 1985, beginning with high school graduation standards (in "Science for All Americans 1989") and working toward reasonable standards for students at earlier grade levels. Projected "Benchmarks for Science Literacy" will include benchmark lists, some progression-of-understanding maps, and essays related to benchmark topics. Benchmarking criteria are discussed. (MLH)
