How Principals Can Build Self-Renewing Schools.
Reitzug, Ulrich C.; Burrello, Leonard C.
Educational Leadership, v52 n7 p48-50 Apr 1995
Principals help teachers become more reflective practitioners by providing a supportive environment, using specific facilitative behaviors (asking questions, informally critiquing, and questioning program irregularities), and enabling program implementation. Principals create a supportive environment by encouraging justification of practice, providing alternative instructional frameworks, encouraging risk-taking, and creating responsible teaming structures.
