Educational Leadership and the Challenge of Diversity
Gunter, Helen M.
Educational Management Administration & Leadership, v34 n2 p257-268 2006
Diversity is a normal feature of humanity but it is constructed as positive or negative dependent on political, economic and social structures. How organizations, not least those in the public sector, handle this is the main aim of this article. The emphasis is on surveying how these matters are being approached and how we might as a field develop an agenda for study and practice. Of particular note is the current emphasis on capabilities, and what this means for a field that has traditionally drawn on rational knowledge that has emphasized unity and control.
