Metacomprehension Knowledge and Comprehension of Expository and Narrative Texts among Younger and Older Adults.
Lin, Lin-Miao; Moore, DeWayne; Zabrucky, Karen M.
Educational Gerontology, v26 n8 p737-49 Dec 2000
Adults with graduate education (60 aged 23-25, 60 aged 61-84) completed comprehension tasks on expository and narrative texts. Score on the Metacomprehension Knowledge Scale reliably predicted performance and self-perception of their comprehension. Age differences involved different components of metacomprehension. Metacomprehension predicted comprehension of expository better than narrative text. (SK)
