Attitudes toward Aging in Adult and Elderly People with Intellectual Disability.
Lifshitz, Hefziba
Educational Gerontology, v28 n9 p745-59 Oct 2002
Aging attitudes were compared in two groups: (1) 32 people with intellectual disabilities, ages 20-39, 40-59, 60+; and (2) 30 from group 1 and 30 adults without disabilities. In group 1, attitudes were heavily influenced by stereotypes; younger adults were more negative than older. Attitudes were correlated with level of retardation. Nondisabled adults had more positive attitudes. (Contains 25 references.) (SK)
