Gender and the Study of Economics: The Role of Gender of the Instructor.
Robb, Roberta Edgecombe; Robb, A. Leslie
Journal of Economic Education, v30 n1 p3-19 Win 1999
Examines the underrepresentation of women in undergraduate economics programs. Finds no evidence that gender of instructor influences first-year microeconomics performance or the likelihood that a student will continue in economics. Female students do, however, fare worse in economics courses than do male students. Study controlled for measured ability and background. (DSK)
