Understanding of Emotion-Descriptive and Abstract Concepts by Aggressive and Nonaggressive Adults with Mental Retardation.
Walz, Nicolay Chertoff; Benson, Betsey A.
Education and Training in Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, v33 n3 p273-79 Sep 1998
A study investigated whether 73 adults with mental retardation had difficulty understanding emotion-descriptive concepts and whether that difficulty can be attributed to difficulty with abstract concepts. Participants performed better on nonemotion than emotion concepts measures. There were no differences between abstract and nonabstract concepts and between aggressive and nonaggressive adults.
