Internal and External Attributions for Levels of Perceived Physical Competence in Children with Mental Retardation.
Kozub, Francis M.; Porretta, David L.
Education and Training in Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, v34 n1 p35-42 Mar 1999
This study examined the relationship between selection of internal attributional statements and perceived physical competence in 86 children with mental retardation. Although internal attributions increased with age, in general, the children tended to select a large proportion of external rationales of competent outcomes that may impact negatively on self-esteem.
