The Student Experience of Criterion-Referenced Assessment (Through the Introduction of a Common Criteria Assessment Grid).
O'Donovan, Berry; Price, Margaret; Rust, Chris
Innovations in Education and Training International, v38 n1 p74-85 Feb 2001
Examines student experience of criterion-referenced assessment and, in particular, a criteria assessment grid developed for the Business School at Oxford Brookes University (UK). Findings revealed that students desired more reliable marking processes and clearer guidelines on assessment requirements and criteria. The criterion-referenced grid, from the student perspective, appeared to be of limited practical benefit unless presented as part of a multifaceted approach. (AEF)
