Testing the Fracture Behaviour of Chocolate
Parsons, L. B.; Goodall, R.
Physics Education, v46 n1 p50-56 Jan 2011
In teaching the materials science aspects of physics, mechanical behaviour is important due to its relevance to many practical applications. This article presents a method for experimentally examining the toughness of chocolate, including a design for a simple test rig, and a number of experiments that can be performed in the classroom. Typical data for some of these experiments are given, along with reflection on the activity. (Contains 1 table and 4 figures.)
