The author assesses the state of affairs in contemporary schools and focuses on current out-of-hand practices and trends relating to teacher certification, enrollments and increasing credit hours required for graduation in American institutions of higher education. He suggests that rather than continuing to certify teachers in existing colleges and universities or establishing graduate professional schools the profession consider reestablishing the Teachers College.
