Lane, Randy J.; Bishop, Harold L.; Gibbs, J. Elizabeth; Lane, Linda J.
Education, v126 n4 p599-608 Sum 2006
Administrators, teachers, staff, and other personnel must bear in mind that children are first and foremost our primary concern. As a result of increased accountability, administrators, faculty and personnel at all levels must posses the wisdom, deftness, and competence that heretofore may not have been required. It is of the utmost importance that personnel, whether K-12 or higher education, to assess their roles as effective educators and acquire the understanding and knowledge of how to perform facility studies of schools and other buildings placed in their care, custody, and control. Children cannot be educated in an environment that is not conducive to learning. Therefore, it is the purpose of this article to encourage all personnel, especially administrators, to attain the expertise and aptitude needed to manage the school's edifices allocated to their guardianship.
