A New Type of Ed School
Kronholz, June
Education Next, v12 n4 p2-8 Fall 2012
Spreading accountability from the teacher back to the education school is an idea the Obama administration is also promoting in its efforts to remake teacher training. This spring, a federal panel looking at teacher-preparation programs debated, among other things, rating education schools based on how much their teachers add to student learning. That possibility riles ed school deans, among others, but "individual accountability is coming down the pike," says Kate Walsh, president of the National Council on Teacher Quality, a research and advocacy group. In this article, the author talks about a new type of education school that links candidate success to student success.
