Ontario universities acted responsibly since 1973-74 in providing for faculty career progress and addition of new faculty members within budgetary constraints. Entry into the profession has slowed, and a faculty age maldistribution will persist for the forseeable future. Early retirement, faculty transfers, and retraining will be used minimally. (MSE)
