Actual and Preferred Activities Among Certified Counselors with and Without Teaching Experience

This article studies the employment rate of counselors without teaching experience as opposed to counselors with teaching experience and examines differences in their expressed counseling orientation. A questionnaire was mailed to currently-employed counselors, both former-teachers and non-teachers. Results indicate that teaching experience is not essential for the secondary school counselor.
