Parents and School Reform: Unwelcome Guests, Instruments of School Initiatives, or Partners in Restructuring.
St. John, Edward P.
Journal for a Just and Caring Education, v1 n1 p80-97 Jan 1995
Examines changes in parental participation over a 2-year period in 10 accelerated Louisiana schools. At first, parents were unwelcome in nine of these schools. The most fundamental factor was changing teacher and administrator attitudes toward parents of poor children, which fostered the emergence of a more meaningful parent role. (13 references) (MLH)
