New Directions for Studying Historical Understanding.
Levstik, Linda S.; Pappas, Christine C.
Theory and Research in Social Education, v20 n4 p369-85 Fall 1992
Contrasts Piagetian based research with psychological research of script knowledge-based and domain-specific knowledge restructuring theories. Suggests that a cultural framework incorporating script and domain specific ideas would be more effective for studying historical understanding than Piagetian theories. Concludes that children can understand and distinguish history as a way of knowing. (DK)
